Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAAs) are a weakening in the aorta that can swell and rupture, causing fatal internal bleeding. They don’t have symptoms and are most common in men aged 65 and over. Screening involves a quick, pain-free ultrasound and is the only way to find an AAA.
Last year, 2,425 men in Lancashire and South Cumbria did not attend their screening appointment – don’t be one of the men who misses out!
You will receive a letter in the post inviting you to an appointment at an NHS site near you. If you are over 65 and have never been screened, contact your AAA screening team on 0191 445 8747 to book an appointment at an NHS site near you.
